The Downhole Profile Gauge is a slickline deployed downhole tool used to replicate and gauge the internal profiles of downhole completion equipment.
The tool can be used inside downhole completion equipment where the position of any internal sleeve is critical to the correct function of the equipment. For example, the Flow Tube in a typical Downhole Safety Valve or a Sliding Side Door.
The device replicates the internal profile via mechanical means only. Once the tool is back at surface it can reproduce the same outline profile produced downhole. This can then be used to gauge the precise position of an internal sleeve inside completion equipment within the well bore.
The tool locates on a known No-Go style Landing Nipple within the well bore and uses this as an accurate datum point to gauge the position of any internal sleeves.
The tool is a very simple, purely mechanical device. It requires no special training to operate and can be reset and re-run in the well very quickly.
