Safety Valve Tools
The Lock Out Tool performs the function of opening control line communication in the TRSSSV. The tool operates by initially locating the landing nipple profile in the safety valve. Downward jarring initiates the tool. The lower set of ‘profile dogs’ are expanded immediately before the upper ‘no-go’ dogs retract, thereby transferring the load to the internal lock out profile of the safety valve.
Further downward jarring will shift the lock out sleeve to the open position. A small upward jar collapses the profile dogs and they are safely retracted into the body of the tool.
The inner mandrel is then locked in position, preventing any further expansion of either sets of dogs.
